It would have been nice to have known more about South Africa before I came.
Anytime you mention any African country we automatically stereotype the land.
However, not all of Africa is wild elephants and warthogs.
South Africa is considered to be the most advanced African country, and Jeffrey's Bay is definitely a surf town.
There is still a lot of need in Jeffrey's Bay though.
The town is really divided; we live in a wonderful house, and can walk to the grocery store or coffee shop.
You can buy pretty much anything you need here.
Just 20 minutes walk away and the scene changes dramatically.
The three main divisions are a black culture, colored culture, and white culture and they really don't mix all that much.
Of course there are exceptions, but for the most part the city is really split up.

Also this is a highly evangelized area, so the gospel is well known by many.
Our ministries are really focused on relationships that develop over time; it's awesome to see how the longer we're here the more opportunities keep coming up!

One more tip:
Incase you're not used to the red Georgia dirt, be prepared to trash your shoes after training camp.
